Nalin Amin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at McMaster University. After completing his medical degree and family medicine residency at the University of Manitoba he subsequently completed a General Surgery residency at McMaster University and a Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Fellowship in New York. He then started his clinical and academic practice at McMaster University in 2008.

His clinical practice is currently in Minimally Invasive General Surgery with a clinical focus on Minimally Invasive approaches to colorectal resections, gastrectomies, splenectomies, hernia repairs and other general surgical procedures. He is currently the Surgical Foundations Program Director, the Clinical Teaching Unit Clerkship director, the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery lead for Hamilton, and sits on the Royal College Surgical Foundations Advisory Committee and the McMaster University Continuing Health Sciences Education Advisory Committee. He was the 2016 recipient of the Steeltown Scalpel for excellence in residency education.
