Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to incorporate the following important behaviours and practice guidelines into their clinical practice:

  • discuss the principles of trocar incision and diagnostic laparoscopy
  • to understand principles, techniques, results and complications of advanced laparoscopic surgery
  • to identify limiting factors for laparoscopic colectomy, bariatric surgery, and foregut surgery 
  • to learn the surgical skills and techniques required to safely and effectively perform laparoscopic surgery
  • to keep current with peer-reviewed literature relevant to the course topic

7:15am- Talks/Presentation
8:20am- Surgery Video Sessions
3:15pm- Hands-on Practice in Dry Skills Lab
5:00pm - Adjourn

FRIDAY
8:00am- Sign-in and Breakfast
8:15am- Talks/Presentations by faculty speakers
10am- Hands-on Practice in Wet Lab
1:30pm- Evaluations and Certificates
